New Warthog A4- Evolution of a classic!

New for 2022 at Warthog Sharpeners is the A4; a revamp of the legendary Warthog V-Sharp system used on the Classic II and the original Classic sharpener. However, they have taken it one step further in true Warthog style.

Warthog Sharpeners has added a 15 degree angle to its new A4 model, offering four settings to cover all the bases for your knife needs (15°, 20°, 25° and 30°). Like the Classic II, the A4 is equipped with two 325-grit double-sided diamond rods and finishing steels that simultaneously sharpen both sides of the blade. The pencil sharpener weighs about 1 pound and has a handcrafted metal frame, a sturdy rubber base, and a powder-coated finish.

Change of trend in the kitchen

A recent phenomenon is the wide adoption of the 15 degree cutting edge by knife manufacturers. The 15 degree edge exhibits less cutting friction, particularly when coupled with a thinner blade geometry. This follows the lead of Japanese chef/sushi knives, who have been using sharp angles on their knives with great results. Contemporary Asian knives are often double beveled with a 15 degree angle on both sides. Among these knives are the Santoku and the Nakiri. In the home kitchen, a 15-degree angle is perfect for modern chef’s knives. Use the other angles for heavier blades, pocket knives, and EDC knives. Whether for your inner professional or home cook, the Warthog A4 covers all the bases.
