Mr. Gerald Edward Terry, Sr., age 87, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at an assisted living facility in Cave Spring, GA.
Mr. Terry was born in Floyd County, GA, on May 26, 1935, the son of the late Luther Terry and the late Lillian Watson Terry. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Paulette Maxwell Terry, a son, Jimmy Terry, his daughter, Christie Terry Woodard, and four brothers, Frank Terry, Joe Terry, Hugh Terry, and Larry Terry. Mr. Terry graduated from Cave Spring High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Terry worked in sales and delivery for over 20 years at his son’s company, C & L Cylinder, where he spent every day with his son and his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, with a special affinity for small game. Mr. Terry loved his family and his hunting dogs. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Eddie Terry (Heather), Silver Creek; 8 grandchildren, Austin Terry (Becca), Allison Terry (Matt), Christopher Terry (Avery), Eric Terry, Justin Terry, Luke Woodard (Phoebe), Emma Woodard, and Ryan Woodard; a great-granddaughter, Alivia Jo Terry; her son-in-law, Brian Woodard; 1 sister, Judy Boatner (Wayne); 2 brothers, Donald Terry (Evelyn) and Danny Terry; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Brian Crisp and the Rev. Chris Lodge will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Pallbearers will gather Wednesday at 1:30 pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: Austin Terry, Christopher Terry, Eric Terry, Justin Terry, Billy Durham and Jeff Royston.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
