Joseph A. Parma

Joseph A. Parma, 68, of Conneaut, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Joe was born on April 12, 1954, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Andrew J. and Sylvia J. (Sardella) Parma. Joe graduated from Conneaut High School in 1972 and earned a 3-year California State Bachelor’s degree in Washington, PA. and he also earned his master’s degree from the University of Edinboro.
Joe worked for Chardon High School for two years as a Metal Shop teacher. Joe was hired at Conneaut High School as a shop and metal teacher, where he taught for 10 years and then became Conneaut High School’s guidance counselor for the next 22 years, until his retirement in 2005 after a 32-year teaching career. .
Joe thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years. Joe loved woodworking, classic car Street Rods, and built seven hot rods himself. He played golf, enjoyed boating, camping, and hunting small game and deer. He rode a Harley Davidson for years and later his scooter. For many years he enjoyed winemaking and vacationing in Hudson, Florida.
Joe was a member of the Conneaut Moose Club, Sons of the American Legion, Eagle Club, and Light House Cruisers. Joe always had a smile on his face and was friends with everyone. He cherished his time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Carol Izzi Parma (1994).
Joe is survived by his wife Danica VanDyke Parma, whom he married on July 9, 1997, his son Nicholas and Kelly Parma of Conneaut, his daughter Joey Lynn and Danny Allds of Conneaut, his brother Andrew and Terri Parma of Jefferson, his brother-in-law Carmen and Shelly Izzi of Jessup, MD, two granddaughters Gianna and Briella Allds, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private funeral services for Joe will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, with Father. Philip Miller and Deacon Nicholas Iarocci. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions in memory of Joe can be made to the charity of your choice.
