This guide provides important information on season dates, bag limits, hunting licenses, wildlife management areas (WMAs), hunting quotas, youth opportunities, and much more.

MAIN CHANGES:

  • Chronic Wasting Disease Update: There are changes to the requirements for bringing out-of-state harvested deer/moose/caribou/moose into Georgia, including only bringing back meat or boneless products; skins without heads attached; antlers, skulls, skull plates, teeth, or jaws without attached soft tissue; finished taxidermy products.
  • raccoon and opossum: On private land, with no closed season and no bag limit to hunt or trap raccoons and opossums. Hunting season on National Forest lands and in most WMAs is from August 15 to the last day of February. There is no bag limit for raccoons.
  • sea ​​ducks: Bag limits have changed for sea ducks (scoters, eiders, long-tailed ducks).

CLARIFICATIONS: In the hard copy of the new Georgia Hunting Regulations, WRD staff identified 15 areas that need some clarification regarding the length of the declared “state season.” The online version and app of the guide will be updated to reflect these clarifications.
